Thanks to Washington County Sheriff's Office, residents can now sign up to receive emergency notifications via the Code RED emergency alert system. Code RED is a web based system which is designed to reach a large number of citizens in a very short period of time, by geographically based delivery of phone and text messages.
The system allows residents to create their own account so they can add or remove numbers they want the system to call. The following are examples of when the Code RED system may be utilized:
- Bomb Threats
- Chemical Spills or Gas Leaks
- Evacuation Notices
- Extended Utility Outages
- Hostage Situations
- Missing Persons
- Other Incidents Where Rapid Notification Is Essential for Life Safety
